Job Summary:

In this role, you will be part of the analytical engineering team, with the help of more senior engineers performing computational simulations to support the development of new and existing product components, assemblies, and medical devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with Senior Mechanical Engineer to perform basic Moldflow (MF), structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations of static and dynamic behavior of plastic injection molded components, assemblies, and medical devices.
  • Assist in identifying, investigating, and analyzing problems with existing materials, and design devise methods and approaches to solve problems by applying knowledge of engineering structures in MF, FEA, and CFD.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to assist in developing moldable and structurally stable part designs and to obtain more accurate MF, FEA and CFD analysis results.
  • Support product development in helping and learning to develop effective designs by using Moldflow, FEA, and CFD results to determine moldability, fluids dynamics, and structural deficiencies.
  • Collaborates with more senior engineers to analyze and interpret MF, FEA and CFD results and collaborate to recommend design changes as needed.
  • Track progress of assigned projects and provide status update to project teams and or management.
  • Support the preparation of reports and presentations for internal, external, and cross functional teams to support program objectives. Seek the help and input of more senior engineers on the team for content.
  • Participate in knowledge development/sharing activities within the team and company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
  • Conform with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
  • Exhibit regular, reliable, punctual, and predictable attendance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in plastics, mechanical, or other engineering disciplines preferred

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • CAD experience (preferably SolidWorks).
  • Polymer or related material knowledge.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to juggle/prioritize multiple programs.
  • Able to comply with the company's safety policy at all times.
  • Able to comply with the company's quality policy at all times
  • Basic understanding of mechanical principles to solve classical structural analysis solutions both inside and outside of finite element tools.
  • Demo9nstrated ability to:
  • Prioritize and complete technical projects and daily tasks.
  • Learn and apply new skills.
  • Understand and communicate technical ideas with technical and non-technical audiences (written and verbal).

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to life, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
