Job Description
The Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for breaking down and handling sheet metal parts and components in the Fabrication Shop. The Sheet Metal Fabricator uses different tools to cut, file and smooth parts and components. The Sheet Metal Fabricator reports to the Fabrication Lead.

JOB FUNCTIONS
Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
- Use hand and power tools/equipment, including but not limited to palm sanders, grinders, and other basic tools. Perform operations such as, but not limited to, cutting, sanding, prepping of raw materials.
- Grind and deburr surfaces in accordance with drawing specifications.
- Operate equipment such as but not limited to breakdown tables and deburr-grinding machines.
- Must be interested in and willing to be trained as backup to the laser operator.
- Responsible for ensuring products he or she built, meet, or exceed all workmanship standards and quality standards either detailed or implied.
- Ensures all activities in his or her area comply with company and ISO policies and procedures.
- Repairs and maintains sheet metal products.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- High school education or equivalent.
- At least one (1) year of experience working with sheet metal or in a manufacturing environment, this includes shipbuilding.
- Working knowledge of machine and tooling processes.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Proven ability to use general measuring devices such as tape measures, scales, angle finders, and metal thickness gauges.
