Job Description
Our Opening and Your Responsibilities
Role/Purpose:
Assist in the construction of all crates for machines produced in Tampa Product Inspection. Specific definition is found in the attributes section below. This position works under strict supervision and direction of the Crate Shop Lead.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain highest achievable 5S ratings throughout all areas designated as the crate shop (not just a specific bay or location)
  • Always consider the company Green Initiative when planning activities, ordering supplies or disposing of remnant material or deconstructed crates or corrugated boxes.
  • In addition to our Core Values, all employees must follow the company Code of Conduct. Both of these requirements are contained in the employee handbook.
  • Selects specified type of lumber and materials
  • Prepares layout
  • Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials
  • Shapes materials to prescribed measurement
  • Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails or staples.
  • Un-crate incoming center sections
  • Breakdown center section or unusable crates and dispose properly
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned

What You Need to Succeed
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to perform duties using metric and American measurements
  • Able to follow written and oral instruction
  • Knowledge of carpentry tools
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. and work in multiple positions (ie Stand, sit, lay, squat, bend, kneel) for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to work in a high paced environment
  • Takes direction from the Crate Shop Lead or Level 2 or Level 3 crater; supervised throughout the process
  • Able to build bases and walls for any type of machine
  • Able to gather bases and walls into a kit in preparation for the final crate assembly
  • Able to safely operate fork lift equipment in such a manner as to properly center the machine on the base before strapping
  • Perform strapping function of simple machines (not x-rays or any machine requiring additional bracing).
  • Able to button up the crate (with help when components are heavy).
  • Lift the machine onto the floor scale, noting the correct dim's and weight on the shipping ticket and crate stickers; taking time to assure all numbers are accurate and legible.
  • Application of all stickers (machine information) and shock drops/tip as tell stickers as defined by the crate shop lead.
**OVERTIME MAY BE REQUIRED BASED ON BUSINESS NEEDS.**

This position is considered safety sensitive and is subject to drug testing as permitted by law.

Minimum Education / Experience Required:
  • High School equivalency
  • Related experience or training
