What your job will be like:
Jefferson Lab's SRF Science & Technology Department is committed to ensuring the reliable operation at the required energy output of the superconducting radio frequency (SRF) accelerator systems in CEBAF, delivering the relevant SRF scopes as part of the JLab's responsibilities for the EIC project, and engaging the cutting-edge research efforts to enable future generations of SRF-based accelerators for fundamental research as well as broad industrial and societal applications.
As a Staff Scientist III, you work on complex problems or projects of special importance to the laboratory and provide solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious. 50% Of your time will be focused the EIC project support in the development of SRF cavities and other components for the SRF systems for which JLab has a major responsibility for the EIC project. The other 50% of your time will be devoted to the cutting-edge SRF R&D within the SRF S&T Department in support of the Accelerator Division to advance SRF technologies for particle accelerators. The overarching skill sets you will provide are the electromagnetic theory, accelerator physics, RF resonator cavity design, and beam-cavity interactions.
