We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Outside Machine department. This position specifically islocated in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for five Outside Machinists J1 - J4.

Outside Machinist J4 Education Requirements Typically has a High School diploma or equivalent plus relevant work experience as noted below: ESSENTIAL JOB KNOWLEDGE
Essential Functions/Duties:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Visual Requirements: The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach or performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by electricians, technicians, service people, painters, mechanics, etc. Must be able to climb on and around ships and walk to other yard areas and requires extended periods of standing and walking (75%). Inspections and work may require climbing ladders, working at heights, walking on scaffolding and observing co-workers using tools and equipment. Lifting/carrying tools and parts weighing up to 50 lbs. on frequent basis. Standing, bending, sitting, reaching, pushing, pulling, crouching, kneeling, handling, finger dexterity, feeling, eye/hand/foot coordination, seeing, hearing required. Selecting appropriate tools for jobs, as per trade classification. Works in tight, confined work spaces on board ship and is exposed to varied temperatures, wind, wet and humid conditions, fumes, odors and dust, vibrations from ship and hand tools. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS This position reports to Shop Foreman/General Foreman and/or works with Crew Lead. This position develops and maintains a positive working relationship with other Machinists and supports a team approach in the pursuit of common company goals. . PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
ACCOUNTABILITY Responsible for effective, efficient and safe accomplishment of all assigned tasks. Accountable to Foreman/General Foreman and customer for Safety, Quality, Cost and Schedule.
UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Occasional weekend work and / or extended hours. May require up to 30% travel. |
