Job Description
Recruiting a Strength and Conditioning Specialist in Virginia Beach, Virginia, to work at the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek/Ft Story, EOD Group 2. The Strength and Conditioning Specialist will be a part of an elite team of human performance professional working to optimize the resilience of U.S. Special Operations Forces. The Strength and Conditioning Specialist is a full-time position, 80 hours per a two-week period, Monday-Friday, between 7: 300AM and 8: 00PM. Occasional travel up to 10% may be expected. Full benefits, including 17 days did vacation/sick leave and 10 paid Federal holidays.

DUTIES OF THE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING SPECIALIST:
  • Establish and administer effective strength and conditioning protocols and nutritional expertise to maximize the physical performance of the EOD/Diver.
  • Design and administer physical training related protocols for EOD/Diver personnel. At a minimum, specific protocols shall be developed based on the EOD/Diver unit of action type and deployment specific demands. These protocols shall be designed for execution in various diverse training environments, ranging from a fully-equipped facility to austere environments on deployment with minimal equipment. Special consideration will be made to increase performance and capability in aquatic environments.
  • Provide nutritional guidance to all participants, dependent of their assigned training protocol.
  • Coordinate individualized exercise programs to ensure a safe and expeditious return to training of personnel recovering from injury.
  • Refer all personnel with an apparent new or undiagnosed medical condition to a licensed medical provider for evaluation and treatment, in accordance with local protocols.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to review and evaluate physical training programs/injury prevention, pre-habilitation, and reconditioning treatment programs.
  • Participate in periodic professional development training.
  • Perform other tasks, within the scope of a Strength and Conditioning Specialist, as assigned by Health Services Support.
  • Ensure all human performance-related documentation is included in the locally generated training folder for each participant. The training folder shall include, but is not limited to, assigned protocols and progress plus performance of pre-determined standard testing events (Physical Screening Test (PST), Human Performance Test (HPT), Functional Movement Screener (FMS), etc.
  • Shall be capable of meeting the physical requirements if training with the EOD/Diver personnel. This includes the ability to hike over rough terrain in austere environments to observe training evolutions, the ability to assist with strength and training protocols, and able to repeatedly lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 55 pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING SPECIALIST:
  • Possess a Bachelor s Degree from an accredited university program in exercise physiology, kinesiology, health science, or exercise science.
  • Possess a minimum of five years as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) working with Special Operations personnel, Division 1 college athletes, Olympic athletes, or professional athletes.
  • Possess and maintain current certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
  • Possess and maintain Basic Life Support certification.
  • U.S. Citizen (required for access to Government computer systems).
  • Ability to be granted a Secret Security clearance.
  • Possess a valid US passport.
