JOB DESCRIPTION

This is for Shipbuilding or Ship repair Industry.

The Crew Foreman is responsible for assuming the lead role of a crew/group of various skilled trade personnel on assigned projects as directed by the Assistant Production Manager. The Crew Foreman has the authority to make decisions involved with carrying out the below referenced responsibilities of their assigned tasks, as provided by the Assistant Production Manager, or assigned Program Management representative.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reviews, understands, and implements daily assigned directions to his or her crew in order to maintain positive productivity during the course of an assignment.
Analyzes and resolves day to day issues including personnel conflicts and production setbacks.
Responsible for his or her crew to ensure all work practices are in compliance with Warwick Maritime Solutions' (WMS) work processes and assigned work instructions.
Ensures the assigned crew is working in accordance with all written safety and quality expectations as set fourth within the WMS policies, and while following all Environmental, State, Local, and Federal regulations.
Provides immediate input both verbally and written in regard to submitting required Condition Found Reports (CFRs) to the assigned Ship Superintendent for review and submittal.
Manages multi-skilled trades personnel, while being able to identify when additional skill set is needed to accomplish a task.
Responsible for assembling and reviewing repetitive production schedules, while executing production schedules to the provided and allotted budgeted man-hours.
Responsible during the pre-planning phase, to coordinate all work integration with both our internal and external work force, to ensure execution is accomplished in a manner to eliminate delays and impacts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to execute essential functions with minimal oversight and direction.
Ability to determine appropriate actions, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for expediting results by exercising independent judgment within defined practices and policies.
Ability to follow an organized method in approach to work while being cognizant of the time needed to provide a service or product.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, technical procedures and governmental regulations.
Ability to write CFR's and understand how to process and execute in accordance with contractual changes.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers
Strong communication skills, including oral, written and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective communication between management and customers
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Must be willing to be a working Crew Foreman when the need arises to regain lost schedule, reduction in manning, or increased work load, outside of their specific work skills/talent.
Able to manage a crew while filling in as the onsite Program Superintendent should a Superintendent not be assigned.
Must be willing to work overtime when required, to include weekends and Holidays. Able to rotate and work a 2nd shift should the need arise.

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required
Three years related marine, shipyard or industrial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have Microsoft Office Software experience.
Must be able to obtain a DBIDS access to all military, government, and privately owned facilities
Must pass a drug test and background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and seek help with weights over 50 pounds.
2. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs/vertical ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This is a physically demanding position and may accommodate some physical disabilities. Physical dexterity may be required when performing walk thru and inspection of job sites. In the performance of the walk thru you will be required to transverse steep stairwells, vertical ladders and bending or stooping thru tight spaces. There may be occasional lifting of materials weighing not more than 50 pounds.


ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

This position works on the jobsite. There is exposure to hostile environments, loud noises, hazardous chemicals/fumes and airborne particles, smoke, extreme temperatures moving mechanical parts: high, precarious places.

During work-site visits will be required to wear appropriate PPE including, but not limited to:

Hard hat
Ear plugs or attenuator
Safety shoes
Dust mask or respirator
Gloves
