Position Summary:
KES, Inc. is seeking a SR. Electrical Engineer with extensive experience in US Navy electrical/electronic ship design and modernization efforts to manage electrical and electronic engineering personnel in support of Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division Detachment Norfolk, Combatant Craft Division (NSWCCDDN), Code 83.
Responsibilities:
The Sr. Electrical Engineer (EE) will provide project and engineering support to NSWCCDDN Code 83 as follows:
  • Oversee the efforts of subordinate electrical engineering personnel in the accomplishment Combatant Craft and US Navy watercraft electrical and electronic equipment and systems integration design
  • Analysis of power generation, conversion, and distribution and interior/exterior illumination
  • Interior/exterior communications and navigation systems
  • Control systems, networks, Command, Control, Communication, Computer, Combat, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) systems and other electrical and electronic systems.
  • Specific areas of involvement may include calculations and analysis of: Antenna selection and location, Alternator sizing, Battery sizing, Battery reserve capacity, Breaker sizing, Cable sizing, Coordination study, Fault current analysis, Generator sizing, Load analysis, Motor sizing, Resistance, Voltage Drop, Radio Frequency (RF) signal loss, EMI predictions, RF signal propagation, and Radiation pattern prediction.
  • Provide engineering expertise to continually analyze system concept, system design, interoperability, and provide recommendations for optimization to include enterprise system engineering and sustainment support. Provide engineering services to include requirements engineering, design engineering, technical studies and evaluations, System Design Reviews, engineering and technical documentation, technology refreshment, sustainment development, and virtualization operations. Assist in the execution of the Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process framework for project work in support of the Combatant Craft modernization efforts and programs.
Experience:
  • Ten (10) years' experience in the design, operation, maintenance, or testing of watercraft electrical equipment and systems equipment to include working experience with USCG, ABYC, ABS, and DoD standards for watercraft. Three years supervisory experience.
  • Must have an active DOD Secret Clearance.
Educational Requirements:
  • A Bachelor of Science (BSEE) degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
Preferred Skills:
  • Small/High Speed Craft/Boat design experience highly preferred
  • Shipyard Experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Knowledge of Shipboard Installation practices IAW NAVSEA Tech Spec 9090-310
  • Knowledge and experience in Acquisition and Systems Engineering, Logistics, Integration and Test and Evaluation

Pay Range: $110,000 - $120,000 per year
