POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

***This opportunity is eligible for a H&W benefit of $4.54 per hour in addition to the hourly rate of $25.49 per hour

Position Overview:

The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe operation of a school bus and for ensuring the safety of student passengers and other authorized passengers while meeting established bus schedules.  Maintain clean and orderly bus through daily vehicle inspections and proper reporting.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transport authorized DoDEA students to and from school and other authorized related events: Adhere to established routes and arrival/departure times.
  • Be attentive to traffic and weather conditions and ensure student passenger safety.
  • Enforce conduct and safety rules on the bus; Report any and all violations and provide written statements, as needed.
  • Render First Aid, as needed.
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Report delays, accidents and emergencies: Adhere to established timelines and processes for reporting.
  • Daily vehicle safety inspection to include but not limited to: tires, brakes, turn signals and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly bus: Perform inspections before and after trips.
  • Report deficiencies to dispatcher or maintenance immediately upon discovery
  • Communicate effectively in English 
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions, in English

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pursuant to the Government Contract, you must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a “D” Endorsement .
  • Current physical examination 
  • Pass drug and alcohol screening 
  • Must be CPR-AED and First Aid certified
  • Must complete AT Level 1 Anti-terrorism training 
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check consisting of the following:
    • Local Police and Court Offices
    • State criminal history repository check from each state which the employee resided during the last 10 years
    • Local installation records check
